The human male is the stronger of the two sexes. Its role is to provide and protect its mate and its family. Part of the consideration of the human male is to find and court a suitable mate that is worth protecting.
The human female is inarguably more valuable than the human male - in a purely biological sense. You have known this since you were a child. If humanity were ever reduced to one woman and a hundred men, we would be absolutely doomed, whereas we could in theory rebuild the species with one man and 100 women.
So, it is the job of both men and women to ensure this solid family pairing happens. That is why it is not a problem when a woman "mates upward" because a higher status man can better provide. It's actually really simple.
But by the same logic, once a woman mates downward -- especially if that mating creates offspring -- it's over. Ask any single mother how easy it is find a good man. You could also go look at the data on step-parents and abuse and neglect.
So: what are you proposing? We just ignore our biology? We just... ignore these realities? Encourage men to marry downwards and encourage women not to preserve their value? Do you really think this is possible and/or desireable?
Because, to me... that sounds a lot like the hubris liberals look at the world.
We are animals. We are mammals. We can look at gorillas and dolphins (other intelligent and highly evolved mammals) and draw comparisons.
If you really believe what you are saying is true, replicate it with literally any mammal on earth. I believe such a thing is impossible, but I am a good scientist who is open to having my mind changed. But that takes actual hard data that to this point does not exist.
Humans have a very well-developed prefrontal cortex. This allows for critical thinking and higher executive functioning -- but all too often this just puts window dressing on basic biological and mammalian behaviors.
I will never understand why evolutionary psychology is so scary to people. We are just animals in an ecosystem. Stop trying to change us and change the ecosystem.
