I'm sure having a newborn and avoiding a birth certificate is do-able. But is there a way to have a newborn and not be plagued with problems? What about a social security number, are there alternatives? I would appreciate any insight on the topic.

Curious to know where you got that from. Just look up Certificate in a Black’s Law Dictionary and you will see that is not true. This is why I said you have to spend some time in a real law library. Don’t believe the dumb shit you see online.
We are talking about International Commercial Law and UCC (Uniform Commercial Code) here which Birth Certificates fall under. You're not speaking the same language/code that the Government actually uses. Black's Law is great for Common Law.
Where do you think the UCC comes from? They didn’t just pull it out of their asses. Common law really has nothing to do with it. It’s about public law vs private law.
Not Common Law, it comes from the Law of the Sea/Commerce. Dating back to Rome.
No, it's about Commercial/Trade Law. This is what you're not overstanding. But, by all means... Continue on thinking the Courts Speak in Common Law.
