Is there any way to avoid birth certs for newborns in the USA and still function semi normally?
posted 2 years ago by YuuugeAsshoe 2 years ago by YuuugeAsshoe +22 / -1

I'm sure having a newborn and avoiding a birth certificate is do-able. But is there a way to have a newborn and not be plagued with problems? What about a social security number, are there alternatives? I would appreciate any insight on the topic.

Yes, but you will be excluded from almost every government function. Social security, FHA loans, Pell grants, etc...

If it werent for the part of needing a drivers license or a job, it wouldnt be a big deal. I wonder if the amish do birth certificates, Ill best most, but not all.

Because Amish babies are normally born at home, most Amish people don't have birth certificates, as these are normally given out in hospitals. It's possible for Amish people to apply for a birth certificate later in life, as they may need one.

Seems it is indeed possible, I wonder what qualifies you as amish?

You'll have to become baptized into the Amish life. This is one of the top requirements to become Amish. Even Amish-born people must undergo baptism before they can play a role in community life. They can't even get married before doing so, as both parties must be baptized as Amish, to get married.

I joked about joining the amish community's but it would likely be a real possibility if I could actually bring myself to believe in an Abrahamic god.

Something feels really wrong about praying to a entity you dont believe in.
