When you use the right modded apk app, YouTube thinks you're viewing ads.

The most recent revanced fork I downloaded doesn't even have a distinct icon. It's just YouTube.

Get F-Droid and NewPipe. It's easy and provides much better features and UX. Still, that phone looks like it belongs to a Good Goy.
