Readers who "reddit" represent lockstep followers of writers who wrote it.
LEG'ACY, [Latin legatum, from lego, to send, to bequeath.] + MEDIA; noun [Latin medius, middle.]...if perceiving center ignores perceivable surrounding; then the suggestions by others become the bequeathed (legacy) middle (media) of ones source for input.
If one consents to what another one suggests; then one ignores ones own position (center) for others as middle-man.
In short...the few suggest the screen; the many consent to look at it. That represents being "lockstep with legacy media". It's the many who are impairing their movement (locked steps) when consenting to the suggestion of the few...chosen to move freely.
