Either meat in Canada is very expensive now, either it is just a plain lie.
Internet tell me that average pork price in Toronto is $10/lb. Expensive, yes, but not overhelmingly and I think still more than affordable for average Canadian. Let's just imagine that insects are free for her. So $200 is 20lb of pork. Baby just could not eat so many. Usual norm is ~100 g per day, or ~3kg/6lb of meat per month for year and a half old baby. Not avery adult could eat 20lb of meat per month or 300g per day.
Looks like those who write that articles really think that "math is racist" and should not be used at all, even to make lies look more credible.
I cry when pork is $2.99 a pound in Colorado
CAD is something like 0.75 of USD so it is slightly less expensive than looks like. And IDK, may be it is possible to find pork cheaper, say CAD 5/lb in Toronto, but then math will bring even worse result. More than 1lb a day into poor baby? Perverts.
P.S. In Russia pork is ~300 RUR/kg on average i.e. ~$1.85/lb if you are interested. In regions could be slightly cheaper.
Wholesale pork is somewhere around $.80 a pound from producers. Meat packing plants, waste and retail Take the cost up from there. When you research meat prices it will be labeled in 100 weight (100 pounds live animal) here in the US
Interesting. nearly same here if you buy a whole pig as dressed carcass from farm. ~130 RUR/kg = ~$.80/lb
Retailing adds a lot, yes.
