I think the aspect to be noted with this and many similar such events is that the Leftists are now driving people away from the cities in a mass exodus. This is in direct opposition to their century-long program to concentrate people in cities.
With the rise of "work-from-home", another one of their innovations, many of these refugees will go to smaller towns and rural locations, never to return to any major city.
How to interpret this contradictory situation? My feeling is that They so lack adaptability, They will not end Their "crime-friendly cities" program. Further, They so lack creativity, They cannot just dream up new initiatives suited for the new conditions.
Think about that: all those resources and very few clues what to do with them.
Well, the crime situation is enabled by control of three things: police, DAs and guns. If criminals fear they're going to get shot by the cops or citizens, or thrown in the slammer by the DA, they're going to keep it at a very low background level.
In the big cities, maybe 20 or even 10, the Lefties control all of these. In other locations, they have little or no control. Even though these 10 big metro areas contain a lot of the population and hit the news a lot, we have to remember that there are more than 3000 such jurisdictions and it would be impossible to gain control of all but a small fraction. We hear more and more sheriffs say stuff like, "If a criminal breaks into your home, I recommend you shoot him then give us a call." What criminal wants to operate in that environment?
So the plan, as it stands, is like having cities jump off a bridge and hoping it will become popular with others. It's not going to happen and they have no Plan B. Just more and more Plan A, like this from today:
A lot of damage is being done, for sure, but it's like we're in a war and at the stage of "human wave attacks". Again, it's a demonstration of Their weakness, lack of creativity and adaptability, and that there will be no negotiation with Them.
