This one, like many others, just stinks. Who released the footage? How did it get approved so quickly? Normally when there's an investigation started, they don't just dump video out to the public right away. It requires clearance both from the school administration, and the police, and maybe even the FBI.
Technical gun nut note: the weapon appears to be a KelTec Sub-2000, which fires a 9mm cartridge (although .40 S&W is also available but not popular) from a 16" barrel.
I point this out because, while technically classified as a rifle, it's a handgun round fired from a longer, carbine-length barrel. IOW, it's about the weakest rifle of any type--let alone "assault"--that you can get your hands on without descending to rimfire rounds.
But we'll get to hear how the 9mm is a real "lung blower outer".

I love my kelTec. It's by far my favorite gun. With the recoil reducing mods you can get. It's really comfortable for plinking.
