The Father commands repentance. Jesus Christ commands and preaches repentance. John the Baptist preached repentance. His apostles preached repentance. Paul preached repentance. They all preached repentance. The doctrine that you can escape God’s judgement of destruction of body and soul in hell, and then be gifted eternal life, without repentance, is a doctrine of devils. An increasing number of professed Christians are falling victim to this ‘watered-down’ biblical doctrine. This is a lie that will lead as many as believe it to hell.
As Christians we should be preaching the same message as Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, the apostles, and Paul were preaching. It is just as important now as it was then. Do not hold back in preaching the truth of God's word. Do not succumb to societal/social pressure to remain silent on the matter. Brothers and sisters, if we hold back our tongues from speaking the truth, then are we not also guilty by omission? How can we allow others to burn without admonishing them and proclaiming the Gospel to them? If you've experienced the good news, and you’ve personally tasted of the heavenly gifts from God, why would you withhold that from somebody else?
Repent: To feel sorrow, regret and/or contrition for one’s past and to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life.
“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38)
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13)
“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17)
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;” (Acts 3:19)
“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.” (1 Corinthians 15:34)
“When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Mark 2:17)
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:1-4)
