Coworker: Dad is on ventilator now. about to die.
Me: WTF? Did they give him remdesivir???
Coworker: Yes. They talked my mom into giving it to him.

His dad died next day. I never said "I told you so." No need to rub it in.
It's like when the standards of care included resparaters which killed patients faster. Standards of care are written for the hospitals benefit, not the patient.
Ahh yes, the patient is experiencing muscle weakness especially in the diaphragm.
I know, lets stick ventilators in them and weaken their diaphragm even more! That will surely help them recover!
And give them morphine which makes it difficult for a healthy person to breathe.
