I find it odd Russia appears to be targeting select areas. They could bomb just about anywhere in Ukraine they want. Something really smells bad about what is going on there
It does smell bad.
But no, Russia is not the nato criminals, who would bomb all the civilians to death as they have been doing since 1945.
Russia is clearly working fairly hard to reduce overall civilian casualties as the evidence shows.
We have never ever seen a war anything like this operation to date, in modern times.
Eastern Ukraine (culturally Russian) population had casualties already and losing Crimea = losing access to Black Sea, which is major economic damage to Russia.
Russia's invasion really makes sense, considering how Ukraine turned into a Neocon puppet state. Just look into how Zelenskyy become a president, and who did the media campaign.
How could you consider ignoring an enemy at your border killing people that are basically the same?

After many many many attempts at diplomacy, after being laughed at in december of 2021, it was game on and not by his call.
This is how you force a nation into war, the pattern above, if you cannot understand that, then really there is no point in thinking you have even basic comprehension skills.
Counterpoint: the separatist east was nothing without Russian interference. Crimea is not Russia's to lose, and was not Russia's to take. Putin lied about both.
Further, the invasion a little over a year ago was merely an extension of previous Russian interference.
Counterpoint to that: Maidan had organic support, but might have never happened without US interference. This was a proxy war from day 1.
Bigger picture:
Since 2005 Putin has consistently told the world he would go to war over Ukraine, and what specific circumstances would cause that. It was actually worse before he admitted invasion, even though he lied about it not being a war.
Four US administrations could have prevented this war. None lifted a finger to do so. Obviously this is bigger than partisan hackery.
Their focus is most likely grinding down Ukraine military while not destroying Ukraine as a whole. Ukraine can produce a shit ton of wheat, less damage to the infrastructure, more food later.
Also they'll stop giving a fuck and start striking everything IF Ukraine somehow pushes back and threats Crimea.
40% of Ukraine's grid has been destroyed. That's pretty much "striking everything."
