This is a natural phenomenon, and can be compared with the Maunder Minimum around 1645 to 1715 (we had another in between the Dalton Minimum, but was less severe and not comparable). The sun’s magnetic field is weak, allowing extra cosmic rays into the solar system. So, we will enter a cooler time period, and this cold spell may last for 30 years, some scientists believe it could last until 2070.
