Opinion | The Mask Mandates Did Nothing. Will Any Lessons Be Learned?
“Do something” is not science, and it shouldn’t have been public policy.

I'll make what may be a surprising prediction and say that this announcement will have little effect on the normie populace. If you bring it up with some NPC, the best you can hope to get will be something like, "Yeah, well, they didn't know that at the time. We had to protect each other as best we could. A-hole."

The reason is that normies get their cues on how to feel about things from the mainstream. They aren't told how to feel about this in the article, so they won't feel anything in regard to it.

I think we all know that if Bret Stephens came on The View to say that Trump and his mask mandates had wrecked the economy and started the war in Ukraine, and it purposely fell hard on PoC's, the normies would be all kinds of fired up.

Mask mandates were never about science. It was about physiological manipulation and driving fear into the general public. It was the visual symbol of the pandemic. Both the WHO and Fauci said in early 2020 that masks were pointless and no one should be wearing them. They knew. The science on masks had been looked at for 30+ years. Nothing has changed. Only the politics changed. But normies were convinced thanks to the media that strapping any random piece of dirty cloth to your face would block muh droplets. It's soooo obvious. Facepalm.

random piece of dirty cloth

This was the funniest part to me, seeing what people put on their faces, and wondering how they weren't sick.

At my workplace, they said we should be reusing masks for up to 3 days. So, the masks sat gathering dust and other contaminants in a locker, cat seat, or - even the most ridiculous thing I've seen - hanging on the rear view mirror. People expected not to get sick, whether from CoViD or otherwise. That mask you were wearing while working on machinery yesterday? Sure, reuse it! Nah... that respiratory tract irritation has nothing to do with it!
