He does command us to do that but I think your Bible knowledge is a little rusty if you think He’s going to be doing that when He comes back.
Jesus isn't going to turn his cheek, let jews spit on him, and get nailed to a telephone pole as a blood sacrifice this time?
Then what exactly is He going to do then? How can we preheat the oven and get a head start?
The Bible doesn't give any instructions on how to deal with enemy attackers. This pray for your enemy while he's raping your wife shit is why lots of people stopped going to church.
Jesus is going to come back with billions of angels. At the second coming, the righteous are carried up to Him while everyone else is slaughtered and the planet is essentially destroyed. The instructions until then are to convince people of their perilous situation as sinners. We aren’t to carry out punishment, that is left to God who will punish them once and for all at the Judgement. Our job is to warn them and try to convince them to change so they can be saved. If you try to go out and kill people as some kind of righteous retribution, you are usurping God’s authority and proclaiming yourself to be God.
