This whole thing makes no sense. The United States intercepted it in Canada and allowed it to drift over the entire country b4 downing it?

For a rocket there simply is not enough air to create thrust against at such a high altitude. Only balloons can reach 50km or above. They had to wait for it to come lower before they where able to shot it down.
Wtf am I reading? That's not how rockets work. Rockets work fine in vacuum.
