They had to have done Some Math to come up with 26 Feet, and not 20 or 30....
But thirty would have been much better....
They DID in fact Do the Maths, YOU just never LOOKED for the Maths they did....
But then, you've probably never shot a Rifle at a Long Distance, where you have to take into account Time and Planet Rotation either....
So, for that, I'll partially forgive you IGNORANCE and STUPIDITY....

I didn't see anything about calculating for earths supposed curve. One might think at distances of 1 mi, the ~8 inches of curvature would make a difference.
