I think Ukraine's participation in the Polish missile provocation was not in the script and really tore it. Now the US has to back out slowly without ever admitting they were wrong all along. Plus, it seems they're probably less than two months out from complete collapse, and best not to hang about for that.

It is very interesting verbiage coming from so high up, it could mean a change is in the air.
Everyone knows and has known since the beginning the only way out without tapping out is to escalate and frankly noone can really do that.
