Thanks for this post. This is very interesting.

Cursory searches brought me to the house of Visconti, whose Latin motto is translated on Wikipedia as "I will not violate the customs of the serpent".

I didn't see an explanation of why they chose the symbol or motto.

Does anyone have more info on the history of this motto?
