The UK is a Parliamentary Democracy.
Boris was ousted by MPs.
Those MPs nominate the candidates from who the Party Members vote to select a PM.
The members would not have voted to oust Boris but will now have the chance to vote him back in, if he can gain enough support from MPs (he needs 100).
if you remember, his final words to Parliament as PM were "Hasta La Vista Baby"
