When moving the Arc of the Covenant, a non priest reached out to steady it as it was tottering on the cart, and was struck dead. (2Samuel 6:3, 6 - 7). Only priests were allowed to touch the Arc.
An interesting scientific theory, is that because the Arc was covered with gold plating on setim wood, that it might have carried an electrical charge like a battery, and it shocked his ticker.
