I like much of Ben's work. But I think you are maybe chubbing out to the fear mongering presented in the catastrophe cycle a bit much.

The most important things to point out are:

• nothing confirms anything expected can hit the planet
• many such cycles have passed with no issue
• tons of ducks need to be in a row for this result
• odds are if it does occur, it will only hit a slice of the planet
