Dogs can smell. They scent mark all the time. It's how smart dogs don't get lost. There are plenty of stupid ones. So they scent. Scent even more in an area they aren't familiar with. Otherwise they tend to mark the same territory. Dogs can smell. The English cocker spaniel the best sniffer dog on the planet, money, drugs, bombs, ammo.
Apparently even sniff out COVID. And cancer.

COVID is still a medical condition. One that dogs react too. They know their prey. Wolves example pick the weakest in the herd. The sickest. Until you find this with most dogs around the sick. Many are standoffish, or behave different, requiring further training. They can smell disease. There are cancer sniffer dogs, believe it or not. Renal another one. Redundant because you still need a proper diagnosis regardless.
