Who started the theory of FE? Who perpetuates it? Why is it being constantly socialized alongside communities discussing known conspiracy practices?
AFAIK, founder of Flat Earth Society (1956) was, suddenly, also a member of Royal Astronomical and Royal Geographical Societies of Britain. You know, all that strange British aristocratic stuff. I think it was some kind of British psyop, may be developed as an attempt to discredit upcoming USSR space program, may be as a tool of "poisoning a well" against "unwanted" scientific research, or may be as experiment on population conditioning.
IDK, but seems that this shit comes from UK agencies.
That stuff significantly declined in mid-70s, and was nearly dead until sudden reborn in late 90s, as peasants become regular internet users. Authorities meet with a threat of uncontrolled exchange of ideas, knowledge and theories, so they ressurect almost dead "Flat Earth" to mitigate the risks. At that time, I think, it was mostly US agencies job of "poisoning a well".
As far, as I remember, that shit was noticeably deployed for the first time on the scientific boards where Einstein relativity was questioned. In a few days after discussion start (yes, internet discussions lasted months or even years at the time) there appeared few new users without any other posts that began to push flat earth nonsense, ruining discussion. Later, they never post anything even if were not banned.
Interesting, that at the same time conspiracy and UFO boards was not a target for flat-eathers. Only scientific boards. May be their masters thought that conspiracy theories and UFO stuff looked fringe enough to not bother. But today, when nearly every conspiracy theory becomes proven fact in matter of months, they are everywhere.
But what is the point!?
Anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of math and physics (let alone able to intelligently discuss the flaws of Einstein's general relativity) give an instant eyeroll to that stupidity.
Internet forums with young teens and Qtard boomers are the only people that can even be swayed by it...
But what is the point!?
IDK, but possibly the cutting of further development. Since 1970s there was no any breakthrough inventions and discoveries at all.
I am confused, what do you mean no breakthroughs or inventions since the 70's?
In what field, exactly? Because there have been countless breakthroughs and inventions since then in pretty much every field.
Wait, please tell me you don't mean in the flat earth cult... but that doesn't fit, they haven't had a "new discovery" since 1492 when Columbus did not, in fact, sail off the edge of the world.
Good Intel thanks. The theory of relativity part seems plausible. I've noticed a lot of psyops tied to preserving this theory. I suspect military has figured out some antigravity tech or some time dilation tech (eg. Philadelphia experiments).
I'm not so sure. How do we explain simple things such as direction a toilet spins or that the sky spins in N vs S hemisphere using a FE model? Why would all celestial bodies including the moon be spherical? My observations don't confirm FE.
