Sextants make more sense on flat earth

correct me if i am wrong, but sextants only work because Earth is a globe.

if Earth wasn't a globe, you wouldn't need a sextant to correct for refraction etc - as the sextant does.

that video basically mocks how many hoops you have to jump through to basically flatten the globe and get a straight bering.

lol, but once you jump through all the hoops ....sextants work!

this is undeniable.

and they wouldn't work if the Earth were actually flat - because a sextant corrects for factors that a globe creates. if you correct for events that don't actually exist, the final result will be wrong.

right? :)

let me restate:

the sextant uses geometry -- which Aristotle used to further his globe theory.

i thought flat earthers didn't believe in geometry.

am i wrong about that ? you don't believe in all the geometry brainwashing, do you ??

the sextant uses geometry (which Aristotle used to "prove" a globe, but whatever)

i thought flat earthers didn't believe in geometry.

Laugh all ya want but the fact is sextants are used by people who hold both beliefs globe and flat for hundreds of years. You were too retarded to make that simple connection.

hold both beliefs globe and flat for hundreds of years.

you can "believe" whatever you want ... :)

Just like "flat earthers" can believe whatever they want, but the internet will still works for them - even though the internet was built with "science".

Man watch some celestial navigation videos, you have it completely inverted. How do I know? Cause I've been a licensed mariner my entire adult life. When you use a sextant you view a local apparent horizon, and the zenith is straight overhead. You have to correct your observation to get a celestial horizon. This forms a 90° angle (flat earth horizon) which you use to calculate the local apparent altitude of a star.

Whether you are on a globe or a plane you would still have to make corrections to form a 90° angle with the celestial horizon and zenith. If you are on a flat earth it's because of your height of eye over the ocean and potential atmospheric distortion. If you are on a globe it's also because of earth curve. BUT EARTH CURVE IS NEVER INCLUDED IN CELESTIAL NAVIGATION CALCULATIONS. Your corrections assume a plane dipshit.
