Lets be a little fair and recognize that the average rube is not capable nor mustn't be to understand the tools of casual life they are given.
That is the root of the problem. People don't want to know how the things they use works. And here comes a lot of space for manipulation of peoples wishes, dreams and minds.
Must you know how a television works?
Must you know how a microwave works?
Definitely. If you don't know that, you are doomed. When technology you use appear to you to be a magic, than the witchers completely own you.
The issue is trust in our corporate masters.
No. The issue is giving up knowledge to corporate masters. "They know better" - and that is the end. It is not about all that IT stuff only, it is about EVERYTHING. It was a very smart idea to convince people to delegate knowledge of how things works to "professionals". Then, it was only matter of time to replace all that professionals with puppets who will do and tell what their masters will order.
If only people wanted to know the minimum basics of how things really works, the wold would have been completely different.
I'm not talking about knowing to the last detail. I'm talking about basics. It's not about everybody have to know all parnubers for their cars or exact schematic of smartphone, it's about knowing that car have an engine with pistons that driven by spark ignited flashes of fuel and that turn gearbox that drive the wheels through the shafts. Literally very basic impression of how things works that changes a lot.
Is it hard for plumber to understand that internet is some kind of pipe system for information and that if you pump your data to some corporation tank instead of pumping it to buddy pot, it is already not your water and corporation could do whatever it want with it?
Things are not as complex as miscellaneous bastards want people to think. I'm amased how ignorant people about their things and how they amased that things are simple when I explain how they work. My friends, including girlfriends too, from yoga coaches to mathematicians and psychologists saved a tons of money and nerves, just because in some point of time I show them how their cars, computers, home appliances, etc, works, so even with that basic knowledge they could not be fooled by "professionals" and marketing bullshit anymore.
And don't tell me that one have to work a job to feed the family and have no time to spend on on learning. If work eats all your time leaving nothing for self-development, than something completely wrong with your work and your attitude to it.
a) notice the behavior of alcoholics holding onto a bottle and the many holding onto their phones...especially when you call it out.
b) what if the few suggest a center (centralized internet service) to tempt each of the many to ignore being the center (perceiving) of everything (perceivable)?
c) BIG (large) BROTH, noun - "liquor in which flesh is boiled and macerated"...an alchemical allegory for a burned offering (holocaust).
That's how things go when you use centralised internet services from BigBrother. Unfortunately, nobody will learn anything again.
