Someone has not been paying attention to what is going on around them... when they tell us there will be food shortages and then proceed to create food shortages, you should count on there being... food shortages!
In addition to hunting, gardening and stockpiling food, it is a really good idea right now to find more sources that can be easily farmed or foraged. Unless you simply plan to wait in food lines soon, this is pretty obvious.
