When I was a kid, in that era when we opened a box of corn muffin mix, we were always prepared to see a weevil in it. When we made muffins we kind of knew in the back of our mind we might be eating weevil eggs too. These days there still might be eggs in it but we can be sure they are dead, because so much food is now sterilized by a radioactivity station along the production line. It doesn't leave the food radioactive but it zaps any insects. Uses cobalt-60 rods and there are X-ray zappers too.
