No, these were staged to be shipped throughout the country, the photo was meant to show that we had the capacity to provide them wherever they were needed. It has since been used to inflate the number of iron lungs needed.
The same 80% stupid who just poisoned themselves over hyped bllsht saw this photo in LIFE and thought it was a roomful of polio patients. Instead of actors.
