Why do they use symbols and ideas from ancient Egypt? Obelisks, Isis, Horus, etc?
Is this an unbroken lineage/ideology that has lasted since those times?

The Bible. Per Rev 11:8, the seat of the beast is in the great city known as Sodome and Egypt, a city that is also a nation, identified as the Vatican. Roman Catholic Church always been paganised version of Christianity, which is the one the rulers of this world has been made to bow down to. Pharaoh and Pope is the same thing. A obelisk is placed in the middle of the Vatican.
If anyone wonder why the Pope today is not as powerful as the Pharaoh, the Bible prophecised that the beast would receive a deadly wound. One it received by Napoleon, who stripped the Pope of his powers, and imprisoned the Papacy. It was not until Mussolini that the Pope was given his powers back, his wound begiende to be healed. Today even Trump visited the Pope at the Vatican, when he was President.
The Hebrews spent 400 years under the rule of the Egypt, and that is where we been placed today. When the Jews rejected Christ as their king, and declared Caesar as their king instead, Egypt (and Sodome) was cemented as our ruler, again. Roman Empire never fell, it just changed, split into two: East Roman Empire, known as the Byzantine, which ended when Constantinople fell. And west Roman Empire, known as Holy Roman Empire, which stand even to this day.
That be some of the connection, that I know of. There been Popes in the past, who declared themselves as Cesar, but that been before they received the deadly wound. In Paganised Christianity, worship of Mary, the mother of Christ, taken over for worship of Isis.
