I don't give occam's razor any credit to anything ever. Countless truths are more complex tha the AI pleat explanation.

That said, I see no evidemcr of or motivation for anything other than conventional explosives.

If it was some fancy new tech, it isn't very powerful. I have an antique canon that would have caused almost as much damage.
