One exists "within" what's "needed" to "help" sustain oneself; hence being reacting choice within an enacted balance.

It's your suggestion of DIRE, adjective - "dreadful; dismal; horrible; terrible; evil in a great degree" that places you within the good (want) vs evil (not want) imbalance.

Instead of suggesting judgements towards others; why not grow comprehension about the foundation of everything perceivable? Ignorance is cheap; resistance is fertile.
