Yes. The thread I got the pic from mentioned that the electronic code is fairly easy to alter. Though illegal, so no one should even think about doing such a thing because that would be bad. They can run without DEF but that means that the environment would melt from a few days of diesel trucks running or something.
Good because that would be so much worse than causing a global famine.
