Yes kind of agree. On the fence. we did good work for some blind kids (fishing derbies) when I served. the derbies were basically like christmas to them, a very big deal. The back patting ceremonies were stupid. The dues and fees were alot (to me), was the youngest in the “lodge”, most of the people were much older on fixed incomes, they spent half of a month’s income on yearly dues/fees. All the money went to the higher organization, while we were struggling to raise money in a state that hated charity and volunteerism.
I was the youngest president of one of the oldest “clubs” in the nation. Didn’t realize at the time how many lefty commies were members. I’ll never join again. By the end of my term, when they found out I was a pro gun “conservative” or “libertarian” it was a fucking nightmare. Bunch of cucked pansies. Took one guy (friend) from club to shooting range/gun store, taught him what to buy and how to shoot, his wife didn’t want us “hanging out” anymore. LOL!
I appreciate a thoughtful reply to an angry quip. In my current town, the Masonic temple is rented out for car shows, and the other fraternal organization just put their property on the market for sale.
There is something to be sad about, though, for a failure of community. Bowling alone is what Robert Putnum called it. We don't live in a high trust society, and further, we go off into our own groups of like minded folks in our own thought bubbles.
speaking of trust, one thing I took from time in mil, don’t trust people that never curse, use all the politically correct language, happy all the time, those people are borderline section 8 kill you in your sleep crazy. we called them crazy eights.
Someone never cursing is no bad thing. Nor those proceeding through their life with joy in their hearts.

They have already corrupted the population enough that they don't really need the lodges anymore. Soon, they're moving to their "New Age", and culling the population to below 500 million, so I doubt they care much.
