Make your own measurements. Glad you find it cool though.
If you want to learn, you have to do it yourself. It is not that hard. Set up a stick in your backyard on a clear sunny day, then measure the height of the stick, and the length of the shadow. Then you know the angel of the sun rays, at that specific time of day. Look up the suns real time position online, at the same time of day. You can do it, I have faith in you.
Yes. I put down a object at my porch, the shadow cast from the sun was almost twice as long as the object. The sun currently is over the area around Bangkok. That would put the sun more than 5000 miles away from me.
