Old folks who have been abandoned in nursing homes are very much useless eaters. So useless that their families stuck them in there rather than cared for them in their own homes while still leaning on their wisdom like humans used to do. Many of them deserved what they got. If their kids are assholes, it is their fault and no one else's. We need to stop pretending that old people or dead people are automatically good people.
