I've been saying this for a few years now, and I will say it again here since this image is very relevant.
I don't just hate slavery. I also hate slaves. Free men can be made into prisoners, but they will always be agitating for freedom. They will always be pushing against their bars, picking at their chains, planning their escape, and fomenting rebellion. Free men cannot be turned into slaves. Freedom will always burn in their hearts.
But slaves love chains. They are slaves in their own minds. It is how they self-identify and they require no shackles to obey. They hate freedom and will try to destroy anyone else who doesn't subjugate themselves as well.
I think this is very well said. It's beyond repulsive to hear people clamoring for more restrictions. I also think this is the inevitable outcome of the spiritual death of the West. I think most people need ideals/ archetypes/ gods with which to compare their own endeavors. The steady western diet of nihilism is entirely devoid of meaningful ideals-- thus the modern bug man who is a slave, and who loves his slavery. Sadly I suspect this is not a curable condition.
