A year ago there weren't a lot of games being played because of covid. If you extend the graph out farther back I believe that the deaths/collapses are like 2x above baseline.
So definitely caused by the vaccines, but not as massive a spike as depicted here.
According to Wikipedia, under “List of association footballers who died while playing”, in 2001-2020 there was an average of 4.2 deaths per year attributed to SCD or SUD, the vast majority being SCD. In contrast, in 2021, according to Real-Time News‘ list, there were 21 cases of SCD/SUD among FIFA players.
Real-Time News emphasized that: “the list we have is even longer, but for the sake of caution, dozens of cases were removed, for which we did not have full details, so that only cases that were reported in detail were included.”
That's just for Soccer though, not all athletes like the graph in this thread. I wanted to dig deeper and see if there was an increase in death based on the month (like the graph from all athletes), but the list is in Hebrew (???) and I can't figure out the data, well, at least not right now at 2AM...
I'm not a big tennis fan, but I've never heard of 15 players unable to compete in a single tournament, ever. You maybe have like, 2 at most? And even those who are still able to compete complained about shortness of breath and such (Iike Nadal).

Yes this is my point, 4.2 -> 21 is 5x higher. In the thread graph you have 4 -> 86 is 21x higher.
So the thread graph is exaggerating the data by choosing a narrow 14 month window.
Obviously the vaccine is terrible for athletes and everybody, just not as terrible as made out.
