Crops require deforestation, seeds, requiring production, both electric and fuel, fertiliser, pesticides, lots of war, harvesters running on fuel, than a factory running on energy and fuel, conversion into ethanol before putting into an engine more emitting than diesel. It's a thicker oil. It has emitted 3 to 5 times as many emissions as normal fuel. Diesel comes out the ground, it requires almost no refining.
