Belize is already run down and Jamaica has so many issues it isn't even funny. I don't think banking is the problem. If Jamaicans put down the pot and picked up books they'd be doing better.
Still none of those countries have the language barrier issue that Haiti does. At least Belize and Jamaica speak English, so even if they are less bright they don't have to learn a second language to make it.
Without Aid packages. Without citizenship. Education. Opportunity. Let's see them. Nope. So what happens when the Crown starts pulling its banks. Tourism declines. Now what economy have they got? Hati. It's already that bad in places. Next Hurricane. 2 more weeks.
They're in huge debt as well. Sure there will be deals but they're keen to chop investment and all those former perks. Because of this modern notion of sovereignty. Sure keep it friendly. What does it mean. Friends without benefits.
Speculation but that status is the question. It means, they can get on with it. Without benefits. Good luck. It was a big mistake those 70s.
If they think they'll become Malta, nope, a different location, it has been a free haven, one Cayman account after another. Investment came from their status. Crown banks. Now they mostly just Tourism, declining with peak population. Any other locations are already a dime a dozen, and quite exclusive. But without, citizen movement, aid. Pulled, from another republic, of banana management, and spiralling debt. There's the plane ticket.
Who knows and who really cares, anyway.
