Mainland China will go through the same. You can't stop an endemic virus, whether that's influenza or SARS-CoV-2.

The more you restrict, lockdown, mask up and destroy immunity, the faster the eventual big wave of deaths will be, when the virus finally catches up with the population.

Whatever you said, it is true. But does it matter? No. Not in the long run, especially when unlike America or the UK they WILL SUCCEED HERE...probably for a decade...and without fail.
They are just catching up with the inevitable - the "dry wood" (comorbid, elderly sick, etc) will just die, just like with ANY OTHER population.
