This week I withdrew from an engineering job application to Amazon. After resume filtering and moving to the next step before interview, they sent me a diversity questionnaire asking my race and gender - PRE interview - followed by demand to do a video interview. I figured I'm not black or female enough for them, so I dropped it explaining why. I then got a phone call from a personnel VP who explained they didn't mean anything bad by asking for my skin color. I politely told him to go away but really we need to tell the SJW types to fuck off.
I’m in the job hunt too and abandon any application that requires me to declare my pronouns. If they’re woke enough to already incorporate it in the hiring process, that company will be a nightmare to work for.
You're quite right. As an engineer, I've applied at a number of the big Bay Area tech companies, and I've seen how PC-saturated most of them are. For me, no Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, all have too many SJW jerks working there either as grunts or managers. The managers often are PC but treat workers as serfs. For example, I interviewed at Microsoft and asked to see what my work environment would be. The great PC-smug midlevel manager showed me a metal table and chair exactly like a McDonald's - the chair was unmoveable and attached to the table framework! I decided to never take these clowns seriously if they can't take the workers seriously. One has to be flexible but not bend over.
All the public companies are preparing their ESG statements to suck up to Blackrock. They feel compelled to do it or they get a bad ESG score and could lose share value.
Since the majority of CEOs are hired/elected/fired by Board members, who in turn represent committees of limited partners and investors, it's the ultimate example of group think poisoning the well. The only CEOs that have the nads to stand up to the cultural bully that is Blackrock are those with majority stakes in their companies... and they are quietly excised from the news cycle so no one knows how they are doing in their resistance.
There's something relevant to know: Last year, California's legislators passed a law requiring all corporations to have a certain number of LGBTQ or minority (read BLACK) board members! After they did that, major corporations started moving out of state, like AMD to Texas and Tesla out too. Calif pols are just plain insane. (Other corporations started having powerless token black women on the board, paid to be there and shut up. It amounts to equal opportunity board members. This sickens me.)
My pronouns are (what/the/fuck).
