The main issue goes back to (iirc) the late 90s. The EU was projecting an increased need for oil and gas, Iran partnered with Russia and proposed a pipeline, Saudi Arabia and Israel (and therefore the US) proposed one as well. Both proposals went through Syria. Syria has always had closer ties to Iran and Russia (moreso than Israel and the US at least) and chose to allow the Iranians to build their pipeline. I think that this was right around the time the US pulled out of Iraq. Isis was going to overthrow the Iraqi puppet regime, so the US needed a new way to block the pipeline. They used the cover of the Arab Spring to create a similar uprising to try to topple the Syrian government. The US started arming factions from both sides of the conflict to prolong the war until Assad was forced out. The dod/dos was arming militants through arms dealing out of Libya and the CIA/mossad was running training camps on the Jordanian border. Remember back to spring of 2018 (or 17, my memory is shit lol) when Germany greenlit the nord2 pipeline, the Syrian conflict fell of the face of the earth the next day. It wasn't front page news again until Trump started fucking with nord2, then suddenly Syria started heating up again. Interestingly, a CIA front company called Genie Energy was/has been pivitol in a lot of this. It was a small scale power company out of New Jersey until like 6 months before Syria kicked off in 2011/2012. Suddenly it was a major player in international oil and gas futures. Coincidentally they happened to discover what is supposed to be the world's largest oil and gas reserve in the Golan Heights (or Gaza, my goldfish memory lol). They were claiming it contained more oil and gas than had ever, or would ever come out of Iran. 6 months later Syria was imploding. Also interesting was that the entire securities board of Genie Energy was comprised of the former directors and analysts from various US alphabet intelligence agencies. Iirc the only ones who weren't, were politicians who had been on the Intel/military oversight committees.
RFK Jr had written a few in depth pieces on all this. Obviously they were buried deep by the powers that be. It's basically the most well fleshed "conspiracy theory" I've ever heard, which is obviously why they buried it.
