I think the most important passage is this: "If citizens aren't willing to do the work to stay informed, especially in the midst of a (dis)information war, then we will never get out from under the boot of the State." Well, that turns out to be an idea thousands of years old, yet he we are relearning the lesson.

Here's an article discussing the origin and meaning of the word idiot in ancient Greece. You come to find out that we all got into this gargantuan mess because the world is full of idiots (in a very liberal arts sense).
