That is a part of my job, dealing with DDoS and knowing how this things works.
Cloudflare is nothing more than man-in-the-middle surveillance company. It does not protect a service from DDoS at all. Even their public DNS service (1.1.1.1 f.e.) is nothing more than collecting information about what sites users visit and other tracking info about users. CDN is the same surveillance shit too.
Best DDoS protection is BGP blackholing. Cloudflare don't use it. Best DNS service is your own bind with list of root servers. Best CDN is your own servers. In no case Cloudflare services is necessary or even slightly better. In every case Cloudflare services is worse and insecure. It is also unreliable, just recall July 2019. And do censorship, recall the story with 8chan. Cloudflare is a cancer of internet and should be avoided at any cost.

PS: Most people are here for discussions and thinking, that inevitably implies arguing. Since you are not here to argue, what are you here for? Damage control? Marketing? Surveillance?
