When you start dropping facts about the terrible side effects, they tune it out. Because it wakes up that little thought that they stuffed way down and deep inside, that they may have made a bad decision.
It's like a blackjack player that keeps doubling down to try to win money back, but they just keep losing. It's an addiction for them.
Because the truth about the world we live in is too much for them to bear.
