Looking at the situation with coronahoax I think that there are a lot of weak minded around. And they are so weak minded that they will never understand any reasoning. What you suppose to do with all that brain damaged horde? Religion does not seem to be the worst solution.
As for christianity itself, it is not christianity fault that church use it as a mean of making profit from people.
I'll try to explain. F.e. Orthodox Cristianity stands on very simple base: Humans have body and soul. You need to feed a soul, just like you need to feed a body. If you will not feed your soul, it will die, just like body will die without food. Grace (don't know if that a correct translation of "благодать". Say, spiritual substance with divine properties) is a food for soul. Jesus leave us a simple instructions of how to obtain the grace to properly feed our soul. That's all. You could believe it or not, it's your choice. I see nothing bad in that theory. Since we don't know exactly how all that soul things works, it's up to me, to stick to that theory or not.
However, as everything they touch, authorities distort christianity to some authority praising cult with rithuals, virtue signalling and other stuff. Somehow some critical thinkers buy that shit as christianity and now attack that theory, not the authorities.
