Ok. So, something of a conspiracy IMHO.
I see patriotism as one of the most ridiculous examples of brainwashing around. Only caring about the people inside your imaginary boundary lines isnt just tribal, it's backwards.
Honestly nothing funnier than a bunch of idiots staring at their flag singing their 'theme tune'.
Dont get me wrong, i like preserving traditions, but if your country is like a few hundred years old and founded on immigration it is pretty fucking dumb to be overtly patriotic. Not to mention the govt bootlicking side of it, which is of course, tragic.
I'm being facetious, hoping to hear both sides- i am definitely not a globalist!
Ok. Do you share the same beliefs, values, traditions, goals as other Americans (or whatever nationality you are?) From here your country looks pretty divided... Do you share any of those things with people in other countries?
I'm in the UK (England, specifically). Pretty divided here also!
To me, patriotism isn't about loyalty to any one nation, or country; it is about loyalty to a set of ideals and values (cultures).
It used to be that the flag represented this coming-together in the pursuit of these shared ideals. These days, it seems, each respective flag implies nothing more than an arbitrary and imaginary border between locations.
the world was better when each culture had their own traditions and nations. Modern 'multi-culturalism' has eliminated any sense of togetherness and has only caused more division.
However, this apparently makes me a racist.
I agree multi-culturalism has caused huge division, but patriotism is definitely specifically about having loyalty to your country, it is literally what it means, no?
