If nobody notices or cares but some insiders, then there is no panic, and thus no crisis. Bad money is washed out of the system, and the system of profit AND loss that is capitalism marches onward. This is not to say I don't care, but the question is, should the average person care enough to notice.

People forget, that 2008 was not just the defaults, but the endless jawboning by Obama about how bad it was in order to get elected. Not to mention W having that dumb ass press conference where he told people to panic.
