The German plastic bottle system is pretty good. The plastic bottles are thick, heavy duty, re-useable, and you get ten cents for each one you bring back to the shop. You put them in a machine, and they are brought back to the plant, cleaned and actually re-used. When you buy a bottle of whatever, sometimes you can actually see that it's not a new bottle cause of the dings and scrapes, and no one minds. They do the same with glass beer bottles.
Plastic is too soft. Those dings and scrapes add micro pieces of plastic to your beverage. It also exposes more surface to leech plasticizers into the drink.
The beverage is on the inside. The dings and scratches are on the outside...
Scrapes are on the outside of the bottle though, no? From where they bump against each other over their lifetime. It's the same with the beer bottles.
Yeah. It's a good system. People are so focused on recycling, they overlook the more important reduce and re use.
How much of if is subsidized ?
They mix them up eventually. They do it in only small amount for the optics, and it uses more energy.
