Maybe Pole Shift is a defense mechanism of the Earth
a) mechan-ism implies the choice to ignore being part of the machine (machina aka regulator of moving power aka energy) for suggested explanations of others about what moves them.
b) energy (flow/form aka loss/growth) represents self sustenance, so the defense to loss (flow) represents growth (form) aka the self regulation of power (velocity causing its own resistance).
c)POLE, noun [Latin palus.] - "stem deprived of branches" and "an instrument for measuring"...the former represents an allegory for self inflicted restriction upon growth potential (choice of ignorance); the later represents choice of evaluation responding to value within balance.
SHIFT, verb intransitive - "to move; to change place or position" aka flow and the form shaping itself within by choice of reaction.
d) I haven't figured out the spell behind polarity yet, but form represents the temporary magnetic within flows ongoing electric, while our choice allows us within the resulting momentum to mimic both electric and magnetic, just like the forward direction of flow allows free choice of direction for form within its momentum.

It's pretty much ourselves destroying each other because we want to; while the ignorance of need (that the choice of want represents) causing the lack of comprehension about what we're doing, and even those who comprehend what they're doing are tempted to shirk responsibility onto the next batch (hence child abuse being so predominant among the few). So called childhood innocence implies adulthood guilt, and they shirk responsibility for that guilt by attacking the innocent. Same with hiding an inferiority complex behind the expression of a superiority complex.

Among those who are animated [Latin animal from anima, air, breath, soul.] resides an inherent hierarchy when it comes to means of reaction by choice. This is why instinctive adherence dominates choice based reaction among the animate form; while we managed to corrupt our instincts by filling our memory with idolized meaning (words suggested by others).
The momentum is therefore balanced by instincts and the corruption thereof balancing each other out. If we ever get our heads out of our butts; then a different corruption should shape, like another life-form even more ignorant than us.
